UK rapper ShaoDow has defied the 'norm' within this current climate of reality shows and record deals. He has proven that success can be achieved independently through hard work, talent...and much more hard work!!
His music is as different as his journey, a multi-genre artist, ShaoDow is known for his intelligent, witty, often razor sharp lyricism mixed with hard hitting, bass driven, commercial sounding beats.
His ability to rap on nearly any genre including; Hip-Hop, Dubstep, Rock, Grime, House and Jazz has helped him gain support and attention from Rap fans, Rock lovers and even people who have had no previous interest in Hip-Hop.
With a drive and determination he found from training in the art of Shaolin Kung Fu in China, and an intellect/business mind having been finely tuned from gaining a Law degree in Oxford, ShaoDow is one of the most uniquely talented artists out there.
He has sold over 19,000 copies of his albums without a major label, released this own range of merchandise and high spec wireless headphones (of which they have now sold several hundred over the last year). And created the 'Blue and Purple Store', a self-run pop up shop which appeared in several major shopping centres across the UK.
Along with the business side of things, ShaoDow's second studio album Kung Fu Hustler reached Number 31 in the iTunes Hip Hop Charts, and received full support and airplay from BBC Radio One, BBC 1Xtra, and BBC 6Music amongst others. Additionally, his DiY Gang Wireless Headphones were endorsed by BBC Radio 1/1Xtra’s Charlie Sloth, and UK rapper Ghetts.
ShaoDow released a standalone single 'The Rise' in November 2014 (featured on his third studio album 'The Way of Shao' due for release this year). The single charted at No8 in the iTunes World Music Charts.
His third album 'シャウ道。 - The Way of Shao' will be released alongside an original Manga series of the same name.
After consistent touring across the UK and Europe, ShaoDow has supported the likes of The Pharcyde and The Coup, and a slot last summer at one of the biggest Hip Hop festivals in Europe Hip Hop Kemp alongside artists such as KRS One, Cee Lo Green, Action Bronson, and Dilated Peoples.
